Follow these simple instructions to determine the appropriate mailer size for your product.

Determine the minimum width (opening) of the mailer:
Add the Width of product (inches) + Thickness of product (inches) + ½ inch

Determine the minimum length of the mailer:
Add the Length of product (inches) + Thickness of product (inches) + 2½ inches

Use the table below to find the proper mailer size:
The correct mailer size must be larger than the minimum calculated size in BOTH dimensions.

Mailer Number       Size, inches
                            (width x length)

000                        4” X 8”

00                          5” X 10”

0                            6” X 10”

1                            7-1/4” X 12”

2                            8-1/2” X 12”

3                            8-1/2” X 14-1/2”

4                            9-1/2” X 14-1/2”

5                            10-1/2” X 16”

6                            12-1/2” X 19”

7                            14-1/4” X 20”

CD/DVD                 6-1/2” X 8-1/2"

VHS                      10” X 8-1/2"

Example:
I need to ship text books measuring 10" long x 8" wide x 2" thick.

1)  Determine the minimum width (opening) of the mailer:
Add the Width of book (8 inches) + Thickness of book (2 inches) + ½ inch = 10 1/2"

2)  Determine the minimum length of the mailer:
Add the Length of book (10 inches) + Thickness of book (2 inches) + 2½ inches = 14 1/2"

3)  Determine the appropriate bubble mailer size:
The mailer needs to be at least 10 1/2" wide and 14 1/2" long, so a #5 bubble mailer is the proper mailer size for shipping this book.

Additional considerations:

Bubble mailers are made in the following constructions:

• Kraft paper outer shell with a bubble lining & self-seal closure (Eco-lite mailer)
• White poly outer shell with a bubble lining & self-seal closure (XPAK mailer)

The advantages of the XPAK poly bubble mailer is:

1)  Lower weight (approximately 30% lighter than the same size Kraft bubble mailer) means potentially lower shipping costs.  Actual savings should be evaluated based on the total weight of the package and the shipping method.

2)  Stronger tear strength / puncture resistance than Kraft paper bubble mailers.

3)  High slip lining allows easier product insertion and extraction, increasing productivity

4)  Better water resistance.

5)  More professional looking package.

6)  Mailing labels stick better to the poly shell and the white poly can be written on with a permanent marker.
