Mineral Makeup is HOT HOT HOT right now!

Let's face it - Jar Sizes are confusing!  Gram Weights/Sizes differ from brand to brand and Empty Jars are completely different than a filled jar plus how many Grams make up an Ounce or Tablespoon?  Calgonnnn take me awayyyy!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What is Mineral Makeup anyway? Mineral makeup is made from pure all natural minerals that are crushed and finely ground into a silky soft powder.  Since it is all natural, it is actually good for the skin!  I'm sure you've all seen the commercials and items for sale on QVC and HSN.  The top-selling brand right now is Bare Escentuals, however there are dozens of brands that now offer Mineral Makeup including Maybelline, Cover Girl, Avon, Arbonne and Jane Iredale - just to name a few!  It is rapidly becoming the makeup of choice among women.  Mineral makeup comes in the form of foundations, blushes, eyeshadows, liners as well as other beauty items such as lipsticks and highlighters.
The best (and most fun) part of mineral makeup is the ability to create shades that are a perfect match for you!  You can do this by mixing shades, adding colors to lighten or darken other colors - the color combo's are endless.  Most all mineral makeup comes in a jar with a sifter.  You dash a little into the lid and use your brush to swirl the mineral makeup from the lid onto the brush and then apply to the skin.  And a little goes a longggggg way!  Don't be fooled and think that a 1/4 sample of eyeshadow is 'not much' as it will last you a month or longer depending on how much/often you use it.
Many people find it convenient to buy extra empty sifter jars to not only mix thier own colors, use for travel and to rid thier countertop of the larger size jars to clear up space but also to give samples to family and friends.
I have been selling Sifter Jars (and other Cosmetic Containers) in several sizes for almost two years now and have had a lot of questions regarding the Jars.
Here are some of the questions that I get asked the most:
What are the different sizes?
3 Gram Jars - A little bigger than the size of a nickel.  They are a little under 1" across and 1/2" tall.  They hold about 1/8 Ounce, 3ml or 1/4 Tablespoon of product.
5 Gram Jars - A little smaller than the size of a quarter.  They are about 1" across and 3/4" tall.  They hold about 1/4 Ounce, 6ml or 1/2 Tablespoon of product.
10 Gram Jars - A little smaller than a half-dollar piece. They are about 1.25" across and 3/4" tall.  They hold about 1/2 Ounce, 12ml or 1 Tablespoon of product.
20 Gram Jars - About the size of a silver dollar.  They are 2" across and 3/4" Tall.  They hold about 1 Ounce, 24ml or 2 Tablespoons of product.
30 Gram Jars - About the size of a silver dollar.  They are 2" across and 1" Tall.  They hold about 1.5 Ounces, 36ml or 3 Tablespoons of product.
50 Gram Jars - A little larger than a silver dollar.  They are 2.25" across and a tad over 1" Tall.  They hold about 2.5 Ounces, 60ml or 5 Tablespoons of product.
Although you can also buy sizes anywhere from 2 Gram up to 200 Gram, those 6 basic sizes are the best/most common for mineral makeup.
***Caution on GRAM Sizes***  Please remember that when buying an EMPTY jar the Gram Size is calculated by WATER weight.  Powder is much lighter.  So if you have a Sifter Jar direct from the company that came with Mineral Makeup in it and it says it is 12 Grams of Mineral Makeup - it is NOT going to fit into a 20 Gram Jar.  For example, the Bare Escentuals Eyeshadows come in a Jar that is about the size of a 10 Gram Jar yet the BE jar reads .57 Grams (just over 1/2 of a Gram) but it would NOT fit into a 5 gram jar.  Little confusing huh?  The best thing is to look at the dimensions of the jars to see what size is best for you.
Why is the sifter important? - The Sifter is one of the most important pieces for using mineral makeup!  It makes the makeup last MUCH, MUCK longer and is easier to 'sift' the makeup into your lid so you don't over or under use.  It also protects the powders from splashes and accidental tips where you lose a lot of makeup down the sink!  There are a lot of sellers that sell just the jars without a sifter, but pay the little extra for the ones with the sifter - you'll be glad that you did!
Do the Sifters fit all jars?  - No, they do not.  Although most sifters made for 5 gram jars will fit all 5 gram jars no matter where the jar was purchased and the same for 10 gram and 20 gram, they normally do NOT fit the jars that you buy from the Name Brand Manufacturers of the Mineral Makeup that you buy originally.  They have their jars and sifters custom made in odd sizes.
Are clear caps better than colored? - It really depends on what you like.  There are clear, white and black caps as the most common, but you will see green, red and others occasionally.  The white and black caps are more pleasing to they eye perhaps, but I prefer the Clear caps because you can see what color is in them without having to pick up the jar.  When you have a dozen jars on the counter, this is a real time saver!
Here is a link to my 'About Me' Page - I'm happy to answer any questions, and of course, to show you my wonderful Sifter Jars and Cosmetic Containers!
