We all know how important is to get a good visual representation of an item or items that you are trying to sell. I would like to give you a few good points to keep in mind when working with digital pictures.
First of all, the size of the file is very important.
Have you ever visited a site where the images took way too long to load? Most likely that site had big size files. Big files make you want to leave that site really fast, right?
That is why you want to keep your image as small as possible without distorting the image.
Keep in mind that the "size" I am referring is not how wide and tall the image is, but how DEEP it is! I know it sounds a little crazy but it is true. The depth of an image is called "resolution". A typical HIGH Resolution images are used for printing and they are about 300 DPI (dots per inch). When working on the internet all you need are LOW resolution images (72 DPI). I personally use a 3rd party software called Adobe Photoshop to make my images as small as possilble.
I'll be posting more web design tips soon...
