When I see silver coins on e-bay, some people think that the Indian Head nickel is silver but it isn't,  its made out of .750 copper and .250 nickel.  The only nickel that has silver is the war nickels from 1942 to 1945 with a large mint mark for P D S it is made from 56% copper,  35% silver and 9% manganese.  So if you see Buffalo nickels being  sold as silver please beware.
