The silver filigree handicraft has its roots in Chengdu, Sichuan province. It has had a long history of over 1,000 years to date, and it is an exquisite
Chinese arts and craft piece.
It is made of pure silver with a distinctive design and intricate carving. It also reflects strong national features and a unique local style.
More than 40 complicated processes are required to handcraft this filigree. As a result, this piece is extremely rare - it is even difficult to find in its place of origin.
To process, silver is drawn into fine filigrees of varying widths. Secondly, the object begins to take shape through twisting, rubbing and rolling. Thirdly, the object is molded into its final and unique design through further highly technical processes, some of which include fiat filling, molding, inlaying, enameling, color washing and press polishing. Its precious material and elegant style results in its high value and appreciation among collectors.
Background story:
The silver filigree handicraft team consists of 10 or fewer members, including designers and professional handcraft men. There used to be an international trade corporation before the 1990’s which sold these items, but unfortunately, the corporation was broken up due to a poor international trade record. The work team had almost given up their handcraft working. With twenty years of hardship, struggling and continuous innovation of new products, they now can make a living with lots of difficulties.
