We all seem to be on the Silver train now. Jobs down, Cost of living up, and Gas, well we won't even talk about that one. Well everyone wants to know what to buy. You have Morgans, Peace, Trade Dollars, Silver Halves and ETC... Well in my personal view I look to buy American Silver Eagles and Canadian Maple. The reason I chose to do so is the purity of the coins. American silver Eagles are .999 and the Maples are .9999. They also have some with a rarity to them and you can get them with very good Grades.

Lets Look at the Trade Dollars, I wouldn't touch one of them unless it was Graded because of the copies from China. And if you get one Graded it will really cost you.

Now Look at the Morgan and Peace Dollars. There are so many out there that they are not rare to the point unless you get the Mint marks that I can't afford to pay for. On average the best Grade you will get is MS65. Purity of the coin is only .900.

Now take a look at the Maple from Canada. Very Nice coin with a face value of $5 and a purity of .9999, but you will pay extra for it. Lately they are going for around $19 and up. But a good investment if you can stand to pay that for a Raw Coin. You can find them Graded, but be ready to open that pocket book just a little wider than you will for a graded Eagle.

Now lets look at the American silver Eagle. It is .999 in purity, has a face value of $1, and some dates are starting to become rare. You can get them graded or not, but they do have some with a grade of MS70 and PR70 if you are willing to pay the price for them. But on average you can get a graded MS69 at a very good price from pcgs and ngc, if you just look around. These are the babies I look for. Take the years 1986, 1996, 1997, they are becoming harder and harder to get and yes there is a few more in the running. NOTE: Buy graded coins from a good company in order to get a return. Ex: PCGS, NGC, ICG, and ANACS.

Now lets look at the pre 1964 Halves, Quarters, Dimes, and Some Nickels. All are .900 or less. Only way they are a good investment is in a high grade or if you have them in bulk for the silver.

In my OPINION, the American Silver Eagle is the way to go with a very very close Maple (because of the price), if you can afford it. But like I say, the choice is yours, but weigh them closely!!! Happy Ebaying!!!
