Having just started a few months ago buying and selling silver on EBay, I can tell you from my experience this is an exciting and rewarding activity. Precious metals are a volatile commodity and the excitement on EBay only adds to that experience. It's a real pleasure just owning the rounds and coins and bars, but re-selling is not only fun but profitable. The profits in today's market are slim ( a few dollars on each listing), but it's still possible to buy low and sell high using only EBay as a resource. My advice is to keep an eye on the daily fluctuations of silver prices on MONEX.COM and price and buy accordingly. However, always remember it's rare when you can pay spot price (market price) for art bars and rounds on EBay. Just don't carried away by the excitement and over-bid. Consider the listing fees and the shipping in your re-sale values, and consider them as well while you are buying. It's very basic marketing, but once you get the hang of it you'l love it! Good luck!!
Oh, one more suggestion. You might want to stay away from the Mexican Onzas/Libertads. They are beautiful coins and well worth having, but I've found that re-sale is slow and low on these. I really don't know why. They are beautiful and contain one full troy ounce of .999 fine silver like any other round. I think some bidders compare them with the cheap silver in Mexican jewlery. Thay are definitely not the same, but perception and marketing is everything is selling on EBay.
