A while back eBay announced that you can add a video link within your listings. Of course eBay set some ground rules to  follow.

Yes this does seem like it may be a waste of time or a nuisance to the buyer having a video link in the listing. I was bit skeptical about this because some buyers don't like all the flashing and music going on while they are shopping but before dismissing it all together I check out the eBay rules and found that this is not what some may think.

First let me clarify what some sellers or even buyers may thing about the subject. The video is not something the buyer has to look at or even listen to when they are looking at your listing. If photos aren't enough and trust me sometimes photos aren't enough, the buyer has the option to view the video by clicking on the link withing the listing.

Not only does this give your customer more options to view additional information about the product it is a bonus for the seller as it may help with the buyers decision to make a purchase. Another added bonus is it is additional advertisement for the seller for free. Further, music is also an option you can even add a voice to tell the buyer more about the product or no sound at all.

I say have fun with it and give your buyer more options it's like giving the buyer a test drive of  that car before they take it home. But be carful you don't want to scare away the buyer with a loud flashing annoying video. The best rule of thumb when making a video for your listing is to think like a buyer. Don't take too much of the buyers time keep your video simple and short if all possible.

Your video should only be about the product in your listing anything else added could get your listing pulled. I have also learned while doing this you may want to include a line next to your video link that tells the buyer your video includes sound so they can adjust their speakers accordingly.

I use a simple digital camera with video capabilities and windows movie maker to create mine. Of course your video does not have to be a movie it can be simple photos and you have the option of adding text for more explanation of the product in your listing. Once you have created your video you then uploaded it to the eBay approved site and include the url link within your listing the buyer then decides if they want to view it.

Videos are saved in a specific format and length so check the eBay approved sites for this and other helpful tips before creating and uploading your video. I hope this helps with your decision of adding a video link within your listings.

Happy selling
