SHOULD I PURCHASE USPS INSURANCE?

Purchasing insurance for an item you win on Ebay can't hurt however, please keep in mind that the postal service WILL NOT pay a claim for a damaged item that is not packaged properly!!!!

Without proper packaging you will NOT receive your money back -- even if you purchased insurance!!!!

Did I say that twice??  Yes I did!!  (Just wanted to make sure I was clear...)

As sellers, we should provide the best possible packaging to ensure safe delivery of ANY item we are selling!

As buyers, we should be secure in the knowledge that whatever item we purchase will withstand normal handling during shipping. 

IT CAN'T HURT TO "GENTLY" REMIND A SELLER OF THIS POLICY IF YOU ARE PURCHASING A BREAKABLE ITEM...  as a seller I used to get a little annoyed when a buyer asked me to make sure the item they purchased was packaged safely but after personally experiencing the "CLAIM DENIED" process from the post office I realize that I shouldn't get annoyed.  It's very understandable and a legitimate request.  But please be polite about it...    :)

Of course purchasing insurance for an item that can't be replaced is ALWAYS a good idea!!!
