Shoshanna- A Guide to Shoshanna & Fashion

Shoshanna Lonstein Gruss, designer of the Shoshanna line of dresses, swimwear, and evening gowns, first gained notoriety as the young girlfriend of Jerry Seinfeld. Nowadays, she's married to investment banker Josh Gruss, and her clothing is carried by major retailers throughout the United States. She hasn't lost her ability to charm celebrities, though; Lindsay Lohan, Reese Witherspoon, and Jennifer Aniston are all said to be fans of her designs.

Part of the inspiration for Shoshanna fashions came from the designer's difficulty finding flattering clothes to fit her body type.  With a naturally large bust and small waist, she found it hard to find swimwear, halter dresses, or strapless tops for women who usually need bras. To correct problems like this, Shoshanna two-piece bathing suits are sold as separates, so that a woman can get the correct fit for both the top and bottom halves of her body.  Meanwhile, besides flattering curvier body types, Shoshanna dress designs often sport a light-hearted, flowing look that's sexy while still remaining soft and alluring, rather than brassy or edgy.

Shoshanna clothing continues to grab a lion's share of the fashion spotlight, thanks in part to the young designer's energy in promoting and wearing her own clothing.  She has worked as a contributing editor at Cosmopolitan and appeared on E! Entertainment Television. 

Although Shoshanna Lonstein Gruss was raised in relatively privileged circumstances in New York, she feels she can relate to the concerns of ordinary women.  She says she tries to sell her clothes at prices women can afford. Her own life experiences, such as having a daughter, continue to inform her design choices as her eponymous line of clothing expands.
