Testers are a great way to enjoy a designer brand perfume or cosmetic at a discount off the retail price.  Fragrance and cosmetic companies manufacture testers to promote products. Testers are the same quality as the original full size item but are often packaged differently. They might be a different size, a simple packaging, or with or without a cap or box.  Items marked as a “tester” cannot be sold by the manufacturer. For example, Estee Lauder cannot sell their cosmetics or fragrances marked as a “tester”.  This is why testers are marked “not for individual sale.” Once a promotion has ended these items are available to third party retailers or wholesalers. eBay sellers can offer items marked as testers at huge discounts below the price of a full size item.
