Someone sent an old picture of a soldier through the mail. I'm not sure if they had tracking slips or not but even if, it wouldn't have helped anyway. The beautiful priceless picture had to be sent to the main post office in Detroit, MI because workers could not find the box that it came out of and had no address to send it to. You never want your mail to be lost so...
ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS
Attach the shipping and/or return address to the actual item you are sending in the mail. Slip it into the plastic or bubble wrap. Do whatever you can to make sure that the item and the address are together. If there is more than one piece packaged seperately in the same box, indicate that on whatever you choose to write on.
If 5 boxes come open during shipping and none have the address they're going to sit in the main post office of whatever city they were found in.
My grandmother has worked for USPS for 45-50 years now and this is the advice she has given me. I'm passing it on to you all and hopefully you will never have a lost package in the mail.
You don't want your mail to end up here do you?
