What is the point of offering shipping insurance if a seller packages a product, in this case a laser disc, shoddily? It has happened to me on three occasions through Ebay. Sure, it's nice to be able to recoup the cost of the disc, but why would a seller take no precaution in packaging, and almost guarantee breakage? I don't get it. We both lose. I have nothing for my efforts, and neither do they. I recently bid on a double Criterion disc, won the item, and it arrived in a flimsy envelope best design for, say, T-shirt shippng. Naturally, both discs were split down the center. The seller only said "Too bad, you didn't foot for insurance. There's nothing I can do". Yes, I could have paid the extra couple of dollars, but I still wouldn't have the item I had looked quite a while for. All I ask is that sellers make an effort to send items in sturdy, reinforced packaging. It would spare both parties a lot of grief.
