Shipping from Canada to you. A quick tutorial.
1)Shipping from Canada to the USA.
A)Ground, surface mail is the cheapest method. Delivery time is anywhere from 7 to 30 days depending on distance from point of origin and possible customs/border inspection. I ship from Toronto, Canada (closest USA city is Buffalo, NY)
B)Airmail, quicker, moderate expense. Delivery time is usually 7 to 14 days depending on distance from point of origin and possible customs/border inspection. Bonus feature includes free insurance up to $100.00 CDN.
C)Expresspost/Purolator/UPS. Most expensive. Benefits include tracking and free insurance up to $100.00 CDN
2)Shipping from Canada to Canada
Unfortunately Canada Post does not have a flat rate for parcels (just letter mail). Therefore shipping costs beyond a local area can be severe! Be aware that 99.9% of the time shipping costs of a parcel from Canada to within Canada can cost even DOUBLE what it costs to ship abroad. Always ask for a price quote to avoid aftershock. Rates vary buy distance from Toronto- with Western Canada & Maritimes being the most expensive (small package starts at $10.00-)
3)Shipping from Canada to the World
A)Ground/boat is SLOW. Parcels can take from 30 to 90 days depending on location from Canada and local post office. No insurance. I rarely will offer this choice.
B)Airmail is usually within 30 days and offers insurance, but is almost double the cost of ground. Better for expensive items and piece of mind. To Western Europe it can be within a week, but usually within 2 weeks
C)Expresspost/Expedited/UPS/Courier will be the most expensive, but offers tracking and insurance. But the cost is usually 2, 3, or 4 X the cost of airmail. Again would depend on the value of the item and urgency.
Parcels from Canada are broken into shipping tiers (based on weight).
Small Packet (USA & Canada)
Under/upto 250g
250-500g
500g-1kg
Over 1kg is no longer small packet and becomes Expedited parcel or Expresspost

It is always better to enquire about shipping rate before bidding if not posted.
Read my ABOUT ME section for additional information.
Further information can be found at worldwideweb canadapost.ca ( can't post link here)
Final Note- Shipping fees (according to Ebay should represent legitimate costs to ship item). All my small/large packet shipments are 95% to 100% ACTUAL POSTAGE- no profit.
