I normally wouldn't do this but I feel that buyers need to hear from this sellers point of view about "shipping charges". I for one, supply my own boxes, packing materials, labels etc with very little help from the USPS. Buyers look at "shipping charges" as being too high sometimes. Here are my costs for shipping an item anywhere in the world: The box costs from 40 cents up to 60 cents each. The shipping labels have gone up to 30 cents each. Packing peanuts are currently 1.50 per gallon due the price of oil. Bubble wrap is also getting expensive due to the price of oil. You then have to add in the cost of printer ink (a printer cartridge costs me $25.00 and lasts for about a week), copy paper ( I prefer a paper backup for my orders), the cost of storage space for all the material (it takes up a full room in my home). I could go on about the fuel costs to go to the post office to ship international packages. You also have to add in the costs of getting the materials shipped to you, these costs are sometimes almost as much as the material. None of the above includes the time involved to pack items, stand in line at the post office etc. Shipping charges listed are very misleading because the cost includes all of the above plus the postage that buyers see. Here is an example: I pack and ship about 100 items per week and these are the average costs of one package that I charge $3.50 for shipping charges. The box, 40 cents, label, 30 cents, packing material, 15 cents, actual postage $1.48. This totals up to $2.33. This leaves me with a grand total of $1.17 to cover all the other misc expenses that must be paid. I hope that any buyers that read this will look at the shipping charges in a little different way. Actually shipping charges as shown on the listing are very misleading because they include packing, handling, postage etc etc.
