Before you ever get so excited about bidding on an item or items that you forget to check on shipping or handling make sure that you not only look at the Store Web Page that you think you are ordering from but double and triple check to see where their web page leads you and what that page states about shipping , handling and insurance charges. Then write and ask the seller for additional clarification because even after you believe you are getting free shipping or handling, you may have been lead to another page that states that you will be charged for shipping and handling at the bottom of that page. These rates are many times unreasonably high when they are combined. A flat rate fee for a very large box is only about $8.00 at the post office. If you are charged $3.95 or $4.95 for the 1st item and $1.99 for each additonal for a strand of pearls or a similarly small item those fees are extremely high. Once you have bid you are stuck unless you are fortunate enough to get outbid by someone. Then should you actually think to settle this misunderstanding, do it before you pay because once you pay it is impossible to get any shipping and handling fees reimbursed as this is how the company seems to be making it's money. You will , of course, have to request they cancel your item otherwise, no matter what you will have to pay those shipping and handling charges. Also, keep an eye out as to whether insurance is required or optional. They may charge you anyway even if you don't say you want it. One last thing PayPal does not help you should you file a dispute/claim when it comes to shipping and handling charges.
