If you are buying a vehicle on eBay for shipping to the UK - beware that you do not simply convert the USD amount into GBP£ and add shipping, there are a number of other costs to consider.
Firstly you have UK tax and Duty to consider, this is 10% Duty and 17.5% VAT for most vehicles or 22% Duty and 17.5% VAT if it is a commercial or pick-up truck
Whether you are importing a new Mustang, Dodge Ram, Pontiac Soltice, Roush, Saleen, Ford GT, Charger, Challenger, or any other US make/model it will need certain modifications (if it is less than ten years old quite substantial modifications) before it is allowed to drive on UK roads
Next you have all of the other costs to prepare the car for UK road use: unloading fees are sometimes not included in shippers charges, neither are UK customs clearance administration/fees. Then you have UK transportation fees (illegal to drive unregistered vehicle on UK roads except for to/from SVA test). Next you have the SVA modifications and SVA tests imposed by VOSA to ensure that the car is fit to drive on UK roads - these must be carried out by experienced engineers otherwise you risk badly damaging your new vehicles electrical control modules (very pricey to rectify)
Then you have DVLA registration, road tax, number plates and because the cars arrive filthy and covered in fallout, a professional valet
Not so easy now is it?! Especially when eBays link to the shipping company DAS only quote you for shipping
We are the UKs largest independent importer of American cars to the UK and we offer a complete door-to-door service including all of the above mentioned services - vehicles are collected from the US sellers address delivered ready to drive on UK roads including 12 months road tax and a complimentary full valet with paintwork protection.
