SWEET HEAVEN ON EARTH TREASURES

This Guide will assist you in Shipping CAPODIMONTE and other FRAGILE ITEMS

There's a right way and a wrong way to do everything, agreed? I'm going to show you the correct way to ship Capodimonte and other fragile items so that things get to the buyer in without damage.

First of all let me show you what happens when you pack thing the wrong way... This item was a beautiful double swan centerpiece.

However, it was packed poorly in a single box with only foam for protection. Guess what, it came in a million pieces.

This item was a fabulous BENROSE Capodimonte Lamp. I ordered a pair of these and one came in alright, by the grace of GOD. The other was not so blessed...

If you think that isn't annoying, to say the least...you're so wrong. People come here to eBay to shop with ease, in the privacy of their own home and most buyers don't think they have to tell a seller how to properly package the item. So sellers, I'm talking to you now...Please take the time to package things so that the buyer is happy when they open the box and take out their new wonderful Treasures.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SHIPPING

PLEASE READ, SAVE, PRINT, SHARE

I have shipped thousands of Capodimonte pieces and other FRAGILE ITEMS. Over the years I have learned how to properly package things so that it's less likely that they become damaged in transit.

There are a few things you need to know before you ship! Weight, the size of the item, where it's going, is it insured, weather (yes, weather) and time frame for shipping.

When you get a box for your item remember that you need 2 boxes that have been securely taped on the bottom. One box should be at least 3 inches larger than your item and does not have to be new or even in great shape...it isn't going to be seen at all. The other box should be at least 3 inches larger than the first and should be a box that is in good condition, sturdy, with no other markings from previous owners. Other marking slow down your shipping process! If there are other markings on your box cover them over with some brown packing tape OR (the way I prefer to do it) cut the box open and turn it inside out. That's an easy fix.

(POSTAL TIP -- DO NOT TURN PRIORITY MAIL BOXES INSIDE OUT....IT'S AGAINST THE LAW. YOU CAN BE FINED AND OR YOUR MERCHANDISE CONFISCATED)

NOW INSTRUCTIONS ON PACKING THE BOXES

#1. First and foremost, make sure that your item is clean! No one wants to get something and have to clean it. Simple way to clean any porcelain item is with foam bath cleaner. Put your item in the bath tub, spray on the cleaner, and rinse with warm room temperature water. (It is very important NOT to use cold or hot water! That is what causes most crazing of fragile china and porcelain items)

#2. Securely bubble wrap the piece in the 1" LARGE bubbles. Tape it up and wrap the ends, top and sides one more time and tape them off.

#3. put a few peanuts in the bottom of your first box. 1 layer is plenty.

#4. place the bubble wrapped piece in the box and surround it with peanuts. Place a thank you note and your invoice on top and tape the box closed.

#5. Tape your larger box very securely on the bottom! Fill it with at least 7 inches of peanuts. (Peanuts settle) Shake the box slightly.

#6. Place the smaller box into the larger box and continue to fill the large box full with peanuts. Fill it untill the smaller box is completely covered over. Jiggle the box a couple of times to allow for settling. Add more peanuts, if needed.

#7. Tape your box and apply ONE shipping label to the TOP of the box. Using several shipping labels sometimes confuses carriers. Print 5 "FRAGILE- ITEM WILL CRUSH" signs on your printer. They should be at least 3 inches tall X 6 inches long. Attach those with clear packing tape and you are finished! You're ready to take it to the post office or call UPS, FedEx or DHL for a pickup. But, before you do.......

#8. Check the weather. If the weather is freezing, you really should wait to ship....Freezing temperatures will break fragile items because they aren't meant to withstand extreme temperatures. Even with gentle handling extreme cold alone will shatter fragile porcelain, china, bisque, crystal and thin glass. Most times heat alone isn't a problem. Heat and rough handling together make things more likely to break.

#9. INSURE YOUR ITEMS.....Insurance is cheap and well worth the price.

**************************************************

Most times damage occurs when something is dropped and it doesn't have enough shock absorption or when a box is damaged by puncture or crushing. This formula prevents probably 95% of damage to your shipments.

Don't let your buyers get something that looks like this!

If you have further questions on shipping feel free to ask me a question. I've been doing this a long time and I've had success using this method of packing. I still have something broken once in a blue moon. But it is rare. Thank you for using my guide. I hope that it was a help to you.
