This short guide covers two points:

1.) How to care for Shiana Black Silver; and
2.) Provide examples of this rare new product in finished jewelry.

Caring for Shiana Black Silver

Shiana Black Silver should be treated with as much care as any gold-plated (or gold vermeil) items.  Although the black will not come off as easily as gold-plating, it is recommended that you do not physically scratch pieces or put them to use in harsh conditions.  Normal usage will retain the deep black and keeping that desirable color will remain problem-free.

Leaving Shiana Black Silver alone will make it even 'blacker' (as is the nature of all silver -- to turn black with oxidization).  You will never need to keep it locked up in a plastic bag or air-tight container because, unlike the Shiana White Silver, these black beauties love the air.

Cleaning Shiana Black Silver only requires scrubbing with a toothbrush.  The occasional brass or copper brush might be necessary to give the extra 'shine'.  If you don't have time, hit two birds with one stone by putting the black silver in a cloth bag or sock and throw it in with your laundry.  No chemicals or shiners necessary.

Jewelry Made with Shiana Black Silver

As you may know, making your own jewelry is fun, but keeping yourself inspired is half the work!  Playing with new materials is one of the best ways to get started. The following are some jewelry by Pam and Angie Thien using Shiana Black Silver.

Attercop Necklace by Angie Thien
Black silver is used exclusively in this free-form necklace named after a poisonous spider.

Ressurrection by Pam Thien
Shiana Black Silver acts as the charred back drop to stunning gold-vermeil roses resurrecting from the ashes in this jewelry set.  Black Silver makes perfect twigs and thorns, adding stunning texture with ease.

In both the above artworks, a black silver chain is primarily used.  Shiana Black Silver can withstand a good amount of punishment from pliers and their malleability allows jewelry makers to be extra creative!
