I LIVE IN THE UK - HOW DO I KNOW WHAT SIZE I AM IN A US PATTERN?

This is a question I get a lot. It's a little disconcerting to wait on pins and needles (sorry, coudln't resist that one!) for your new pattern to come all the way from the US, only to discover it won't work because the size is wrong.

The basic rule of thumb for ladies sizes is this: To convert a US size to a UK size just add ONE. So, a US size 12 is equivalent to a UK size 14. It gets a little trickier with children's sizes!

Because this size conversion can be so confusing, it's always a good idea to check your measurements against a size chart. I have compiled size charts that work for all the major pattern companies. I have tried to include not only measurements, but also equivalencies for US, UK, and European sizes where possible. There are charts for Ladies, Women (Plus Size), Men/Unisex, Girls/Boys, Children, Toddlers and Babies.
