When listing Car or Truck parts be specific as to the type of part you are listing. A NOS (New Old Stock) is a part made by the Factory(GM, FORD ,CHRYSLER ) or one of it's suppliers such as Delco-remy or AC- Delco. A NORS (New Old Replacemnt Stock) is an aftermarket company such as Standard, Atlas, Western-Auto etc. This makes a difference to a collector or auto restorer.
If you are unsure or do not know what the part you have fits, list as much information off the part and or packaging as possible.Don't make the potential buyer email for the information. Saving them time may make you money. Most Factory parts will have a part number and sometimes a group number or bin number on the box. If the part is un-boxed ,often there will be a casting number or a number inscribed on the part itself.
All of this information aids the buyer in determining the age and fit of the part. Most serious buyers will have part number catalogs that will tell them what the part fits if they have the part numbers from your listing. Many times even if they can't use the part they will mail you and tell you what it does fit so you can update your listing.
When you title your auction if you don't know what the part fits you can add the part number in the title. This often peaks the interest of buyer to search their books to see what you have.
If the parts you have are of the 70,s era or newer they may still be available at part chains such as NAPA. You can often go to these websites and enter the part number and it will give you the price. You can use this in your add. For example, say you have a water pump for a 76 Ford truck. You are listing it at a $5.00 starting bid. You can add in your listing that this part is listed at NAPA for $47.50. You may decide to add a "BUY IY NOW" price of $25.00. Remember to figure in the cost of the shipping so your potential buyer still feels he is getting a good deal. You Don't want the price and the shipping to be more than what it can be purchased locally for. This gives the buyer an incentive to buy from you.
