Number one, be creative!
Number two, but be honest!
This is my very first guide I've written for I'm pretty new at selling on eBay. So far I'm having a blast! The thing I've noticed in other sellers who are doing well is that their descriptions on their items usually have a story to tell.
If the item you're selling comes from someone you know such as friends or family, then a good description isn't to hard to write. I believe that one of the most important keys to selling on eBay is in the description.
I know from things I've bought, it really helps. If the item you're selling is from something such as a yard sale or antique shop or where ever, then try to find out as much as you can about the item on the net or your local library and place your information into your description. Site your sources and give credit where credit is due!
Use colorful words to describe your item. If you don't know what something is, then either ask for help in finding out what it is but don't pass of that you know what it is if you really don't know. You can make guesses to try and create a visual image in a potential buyers head, but so very many sellers are collectors and they may know what your item is, so go ahead and be creative but honest!
So relax, have fun and enjoy your selling experience on eBay and after you've sold a few items, write a guide. I know they've been very helpful to me as a newbie. Share your thoughts and ideas with others and it will only help enhance your selling experience on this huge market place!
I hope this guide was useful to all the new sellers out there!
