Half.com is a parents dream come true. It is a marketplace for used books, dvd's/ videos, and video games. Naturally, children outgrow their books from board books, to Little Golden books, to easy readers. This goes the same for dvd's and videos--even more so. Moms know all too well how fast kids go from Baby Einstein to Barney and then on to Scooby Doo and Looney Tunes.  At half.com--one of e-bays sites--you can sell your old media items and make money fairly easily.

Listing the items is simple: go to the link on e-bay's home page and click on half.com. At the top of their pages they have a link that says--sell your stuff. Open that link and they allow you to  list your items individually or if you have a stack of books, movies, and/or  games--you can use the multiple listings. All you have to do is look on the back of your items and put in the ISPN # for books, and the UPC#  for everything else. You need to choose the condition your item is in--which is easy--just go to their link which describes brand new, like new, very good, good and acceptable. Their catalogues are fairly extensive so unless your item is obscure--they should have it in their computer system. (If you can't find it through the listing section--search your item--if you find it--they will have a sell yours  link also)  Then they allow you to choose your price that you are willing to sell it for. It also tells how many are in stock and the lowest price, the highest and the average. If you list it for one cent under the lowest price--you will be the lowest price and generally it will sell quickly.  Their site is very user friendly.

When you make a sale, they will e-mail you that you made a sale--which should brighten your day! Then pack it up--they give you a shipping allowance which will cover your shipping cost. Send it out to the buyer--the quicker you send it--the better chance you have of getting a fast positive feedback. It is handy to print out the e-mail and send part of it to the buyer. You can also cut out the mailing address so you don't even have to write out the address.

Twice a month, half.com deposits money into your paypal account. You get money for stuff your kids don't want anymore and it's a great way to build feedback ratings as well.

It is fun to go through the stuff with your kids and if they have something you don't approve of--you can get rid of that too. It is a great place for parents. The prices are reasonable and it is better than keeping old movies, books, and games around as clutter that gets broken.

If you are not a parent--you probably have old media items you don't want anymore either. Everyone has an old book they've never read or a movie they don't want!

Good luck!
