Here are some things I have learned over the years while selling my childrens clothing on eBay:

1.  Never have an auction begin, end, or run through a holiday.  Many potential bidders will be busy, or out of town with family.

2.  Always include the sex, size and word "LOT" in your title.  Example:  Boys 4 4T Lot

3.  Include several of clear photos of your items.  The more photos, the more bids.  DO NOT PHOTOGRAPH FOLDED CLOTHING!    This is my pet peeve.  It doesn't tell the bidder if the items are long sleeved, short sleeved, shorts or jeans.  Spread the items out fully.  DO NOT PHOTOGRAPH clothes on the FLOOR!   Unless you regularly eat off your floors, it's just plain disgusting to put clean clothes on the floor!  Yuk.  A clean white sheet over a bed works great!

4.  Offer to combine shipping at a discount.  Encourage bidders to check out your other auctions.

5.  Keep shipping costs as low as possible - Use the rate calculator.  Fixed shipping is not fair to bidders who live near you!

6.  Put all best brand names in the title:  GAP GYMBOREE BABY LULU OLD NAVY HANNA ANDERSSON etc...

7.  End auctions on weekday mornings- Mondays from nine to noon works great when school is in session.  Parents have the chance to get kids off to school and then glance at eBay later.

8.  Be honest and detailed when describing your clothings quality and flaws.  It is better to have your customer pleasantly surprised, rather than disappointed!

9.  Be careful using the term "LIKE NEW".  The clothing is either New Without Tags (NWOT) meaning never worn or washed OR it is used - gently used -excellent used condition (EUC)- meaning it has been washed or worn.

10.  Using the phrase "these clothes have lots of life left in them" waives big red flags in the air to most potential bidders.  These clothes must be REALLY WORN OUT!  Don't sell faded or damaged clothing.

11.  I make a lot of clothing purchases on eBay. I've found a way that I can earn a little bit of cash back on what I spend. Bigcrumbs.com offers a 36% cash back rebate on fees when you shop on eBay through their site. The rebates are paid monthly via PayPal.
