I have learned over time that when you have a good idea there is always someone who is looking to capitalize on it.  When I first started making and selling my animal beds on ebay there was hardly anyone selling these types of beds.  Now, suddenly everyone is either making and selling them or getting them dirt cheap and reselling them on ebay. 

If you have a good idea like this and make the things yourself make sure yours is different than any others.  Too many of one good thing is not.  Now we compete with those who have them commercially made for dirt cheap and they can get their materials really inexpensive.  I pretty much have given up on selling animal beds on ebay.  Sure here and there I will try to empty out my closet.  Even when I start them out as a penny and make shipping really cheap no one buys because they are home made and not those store boughten wonderfuls. 

So remember if you make something home made, get the materials as low cost as possible.  Be prepared to lose money at first, or eventually.  At some point in time people will buy them, but they will then get caught up in the ebay passion that seems to be our world today.  Then everyone else will suddenly have your idea.  Oh well. Life goes on.  So unless you have a superb idea that no one else has thought of think about it before you invest a lot of money in it.
