You can sell your music and art through many networks. With the internet, you can tap into
all sorts of places to sell your product.
Being an artist and musician, I love the study of marketing to learn how to market online as well as with direct marketing.
There needs to be a balance of the two.
Last year, I had an art exhibit and sold many of my albums, notecards and some prints of my watercolor painting there. Sometime, when people are able to meet you and see your products, it becomes a more personal purchase as well as a purchase of want or need.
I myself, make purchases like that.
Yesterday, I was at the Ritz Cameral store at Oxford Mall in Pa. where they were having a liquidation sale, when one of the salesmen answered an important question I had. They were having a 70% sale there and so I bought a beautiful frame I could use later for family pictures.
I would say that was a purchase of appreciation-not because of the sale, but because someone
there was very kind to me.
Social network media is also great. You can reach many people on Twitter, Myspace, Facebook and many other social networks and let people know of your promotion or product.
You can reach specific categories of your interest and get the support of a group.
MySpace have a music categories where you can download your music and even advertise you music in their classified ads. Something new from MySpace is a partnering with a company called, Snowcone where you pay a fee for the year for a music download box you can place on any site and a very small percentage of what is downloaded from it. It is an option.
Of Course Ebay is the great traffic site for products of all times and remains still one of the dynamic places to sell products. It is easy to scan your photo and do a good description
of your product.
If you are trying to promote your music to a TV Show or to a Movie Production house,
you might want to purchase a copy of the Backstage Ross Reports. There are listings for Agents, Casting Directors, TV Production, Films In Preparation, etc. I purchased a copy at
Borders Books Store to perhaps market some of my songs.
Having your own domain website is one of the best ways of getting started to that you can
have the best control over your products.
Always copyright your music, plays, stories, and any other creative art with copyright forms, and your signature on your art.
There are serveral music organizations to register and receive royalties from air play.
The most popular music organizations are BMI and ASCAP.
The last and most important thing is to know a lawyer who could look at any contract you are offered for the licensing of your music. ASCAP-I'm a member of- have a lot of resources for you to use. They have workshops and an daily newsletter you can sign up for for free.
Marketing today, means doing a lot of your own leg work and keeping the bulk of your
money. It is wise to learn as much as possible about the business world and to weigh the pros and cons of any situation.
My best to you in promoting and selling your creative products.
I've just release my an album of my "Love Songs" album on ebay.
It is a mixture of Jazz, R&B, Dance. This album is some of my best work.
All of the songs are original and professionally produced.
Thanks for reading my Music and Art Guide. I welcome your comments.
