Hello to all of you Gymbo sellers and those of you thinking of selling. Here are just a few tips I thought I would share with you.
As you know, there is NO Gymboree "wholesalers" you get your Gymboree from the store or online, even the Ebay wholesaler get theirs that way. The key to actually MAKING money is buying at the right price and knowing WHAT to buy. My local gymboree has many sales during the year. I ONLY buy 60% off mark downs that are on sale and then use a 20% off coupon found in Magazines such as Plum, Parents, Cookie etc. a Great wesite called gymbomommy.com will give you the place to find all of the current magazine coupons!!! Use a Gymboree Visa and get 5% off additionally. I have been able to get 69.00 wool jackets for 5.99!! If you take the time to do this you will be getting items for up to 80% off retail!!
NEVER buy Gymbucks online. You have to have some business sense. How much are you really saving if you buy a $50 off gymbuck for $22? Only 28 and you have no merchandise to show for your $22!! Earn your own Gymbucks and get the resale merchandise or clothing for your kids!! (not to mention even though people do it, I have seen auctions for Gymbucks pulled because it is not legal) I mean, you are doing this to MAKE money right? Take into account listing fees, final value fees AND Paypal fees when setting your beginning auction or buy it now price.
STAY AWAY from buying solids or anything that is too plain. The best resale items are the cuties with embellishments, rhinestones etc. I personally buy all sizes and boys items. The boys items that sell well include anything with monkeys on them.....ha ha. Boy sizes do the best from 12 months to 2T. 0-3 months sizes buy sparingly or none at all. Take not of what you paid for each item including sales tax. I calculate everything and write it on the tag in pencil. that way you have a quick reference when you are listing.
When listing, although it takes a little more effort, TAKE CLOSE UP PHOTOS of all of the cute details!! You will get more for your auction with clean crisp photos not thrown on the carpet or on a printed bedspread!! Invest in a piece of plain white and plain black piece of fabric from the craft store and place your items on that! That simple step will make a world of difference. (ps. DON"T cut and past Gymboree photos, you will eventually get caught. I didn't realize that this was a no-no in the beginning and have 56 listings pulled!! Even if you get them from a third party site, you must have written permission !!)
To keep your shipping cost down I would reccommend buying Poly Mailers. They weigh less than an ounce, are water resistant and pretty tear proof. I have shipped hundereds of items in them, even overseas and NEVER had a problem. You can get them for a very reasonable price from Ebay sellers.
Finally, ALWAYS use the name of the line AND size in your listing. You don't have to write the word "size" just the number. I have seen many sellers amazingly not put the line or size in their title. Gymbo mommies know the names. You can find them at gymbohaven.com or namethatline.biz Also, If you use a poly mailer, you would be surprised at what you can fit into one and then place in a flat rate priority envelope!!
I hope some of this was helpful. Good luck and Happy Ebaying!!
