You have alot to learn when you become an eBay seller of designer
jeans. After purchasing so many pairs of alleged authentic designer
jeans that were clearly knockoffs, I want to warn you that eBay is NOT
the place to sell your counterfeit jeans. It is against the law and you can be prosecuted!
1. The quickest way to lose eBay selling privileges is to sell counterfeit or knockoff jeans. 99% of the trendy designer jeans on eBay are knockoffs regardless of what the seller tells you. No seller in his or her right mind will sell an authentic NWT pair of Rock and Republic, 7 For All Mankind, or True Religion for $25 to $50. If you plan to use eBay to sell your knockoff or counterfeit jeans, DON'T.
2. You will learn fast who VeRO is. They are a team who selectively remove listings of alleged counterfeit items. We all know you can purchase authenticity papers to provide for your counterfeit jeans but remember that this is against the law in addition being deceitful to your customer.
3. If your account is suspended, don't even attempt to reinstate it as you will only receive form letters. eBay's policy is that you and your household members are unable to register under a new account. They will track you with your IP address, credit cards, bank accounts, pictures.
4. Your logic may be to provide a service to buyers who are unable to afford the authentic jeans; however, these companies don't want your free advertising even though these counterfeit items are reaching a huge market area. They want you to purchase the jeans at authorized dealers such as Bloomingdale's, Nieman Marcus, Sax Fifth Avenue, and Splash and spend $175 to $250 for a pair of jeans.
5. Most customers won't know you sold them a pair of knockoff jeans but that is a risk you will take. Rest assured, you will always have one who files a dispute against your PayPal account and you will end up refunding the customer so don't fight it as you are breaking the law by selling crap counterfeit jeans.
6. If you order a huge shipment, you need to worry about customs and if your jeans are seized then you are out of luck. Rock and Republic is a brand to stay away from if you plan to be an idiot and attempt to sell counterfeit jeans. You will be sorry you wasted your money.
7. You can look at any Rock and Republic knockoff jean and know that it is crap. The crystals are never evenly glued on and can peel right off. The length is usually 31 or 32 inches, the hallmark length of knockoff jeans sold on eBay. They are not sized properly. The paper tag inside is usually cheap looking just like the jeans. We all know you pay anywhere between $25 to $35 for each jean but they aren't worth it. The new Phoenix Jagger jeans come in unhemmed from China. They run narrow and don't even have the right tag. Rock & Republic is supposed to be in cursive. I just love the blue hang tag with the silver ball chain that is also the hallmark of the knockoff jeans. LOL, that is 99% of them on eBay. Why are certain sellers allowed to sell them is the question? I did some investigation and this is a preliminary list of current eBay sellers that I would consider purchasing an authentic pair of Rock & Republic jeans from: stonechateau, pinkmonkeyclothing, vipfashions, brandnamebargains1, and girlyzee. See, I am not anti-Power Sellers because I know it isn't fair to pass judgment on those who actually deliver the product they advertise.
8. If you haven't figured it out, DON'T buy knockoff jeans from China or anywhere.
9. Shame on you for telling potential buyers your knockoff jeans are authentic when they ask you.
10. Keep pictures of your items you sell for several months, always ship your jeans priority mail with delivery confirmation as you can do this online, and read your PayPal seller protection rules and eBay's policy on selling counterfeit/replica items.
In summary, if you plan to sell counterfeit/replica jeans as a new career, it is comparable to being a drug dealer. Sure, it is fast cash but everyone WILL be caught eventually. I realize that you may have been told by your wholesaler that your designer jeans were authentic but you have a legal responsibility to find out if they are. http://denimology.co.uk/ is a great site to get educated about what designer jeans look like. Go to Bloomingdale's, Nieman Marcus, and Sax Fifth Avenue and actually inspect what a true authentic jean looks like. The knockoffs sold on eBay are TERRIBLE for the most part and are NOT the same quality of the authentic jeans.
