I purchase many lots of cookbooks on Ebay, and see so many mistakes that I have decided to write a guide to help new sellers.
FIRST: Write a good title!! "Lot of old cookbooks" will NOT help your sales. What kind of cookbooks? Are they fundraiser or Community cookbooks? Where are they from? What type of recipes do they include? Examples of good titles: "Lot of 15 Iowa Community Church Cookbooks" "Lot 10 Vegetarian & Vegan Cookbooks" As a buyer, I much prefer to have the word "Lot" in the title, so it is easier for me to find... "10 Cookbooks" gets blended into the listings with all of the other single cookbooks.
SECOND: Good Photos! Do not use dark, blurry photos. You don't have to get too fancy & take a photo of each book, either .. Just spread the books out on a table or your floor and take a photo.
THIRD: List the titles and author of each book. If selling community / fundraising cookbooks, it helps if you list the name of the organization or church, location and date, if possible... if you just list "Recipes with Love" I will have no idea that it is a cookbook from my grandmother's church in Pennsylvania ... If you list "Recipes With Love from Sykesville Methodist Church, 1949" The amount I am willing to pay for your just increased by $25!
FOURTH: Condition! Old cookbooks are usually not in the best condition, which is accepted by collectors. List the condition, with stains, missing covers, etc. But, please, if it has mold, or some other nasty problem, please don't sell it!
SHIPPING: Remember to include Media Mail .. it is much less inexpensive than Priority Mail .. and a lower-priced shipping option WILL help your sales. Don't use a very expensive UPS option as your only shipping method... And, a seller's tip: When including your shipping option in your listing: List the least expensive option first .. that is what will show on the search pages for Ebay .. a listing with high shipping cost will be skipped over by some buyers.
