I tend to especially watch Tama Drums being sold on eBay. However, I often check out other brands as well. I have noticed a trend recently of several sellers representing the inexpensive black plated steel snare drums that used to come with Rockstar sets as being brass. I assume this is due to the current popularity of black brass snare drums such as the Ludwig Black Beauty. Some of the ads I have seen have even referred to the Tama drum being sold as a Black Beauty. I understand that there may be some cases of seller ignorance of the facts instead of intentional fraud. However, it has become too common and too obvious to always be the case. Another case of "know what you're buying". The Tama black steel snare can be had for under $50. The Ludwig Black Beauty often brings over $500.
