I have been researching eBay's "improving" the feedback system plans and I have to say that not only am I confused by this I am also appalled. First eBay puts in the star ratings to which buyers can score you on your item described, customer service, shipping prices, and shipping time. Now lets look at this for a second. You bring this star rating on board in hopes that people will be more honest, however, this does not help us sellers at all figure out what we are doing wrong. Yes when the stars get lower we know what we are doing wrong but what happened to customers being honest with us and letting us know what is going on and letting us know how we can improve. Instead our star numbers go down with NO reason to why or who was unhappy. I have seen people leave lower stars even on free shipping yet they have lowered the shipping stars. That is absurd.
Then you have the supposed NEW and IMPROVED feedback system in which BUYERS will be able to leave us negative, neutral or positive feedack depending on how they feel about the purchase. But, in doing this change SELLERS will ONLY be able to leave a positive or nothing at all. eBay feels that BUYERS will tend to be more honest about how the transaction really went without the fear of having the seller retaliate against them with a negative. How does that make us SELLERS feel knowing that if we have a bad buyer, a non paying buyer, or a buyer that is harrassing us or holding our feedback hostage? We can ONLY give them positive or NO feedback at all, and that is not right. How is it right that THEY can hold feedback over our heads in order to get what they want and we can't even let people know if they didn't even pay for the item by not letting us give the appropriate feedback?
How is this helping us SELLERS?? We ARE eBay's Customers. The Buyers come to US! Buyers are us SELLERS customers who we take care of, we ship the items, we answer questions, we also follow up with them to make sure everything is ok. WE make the money for ebay as WE are the ones that are listing the items and paying the fees. Even if you put up an auction and that auction gets NO bids, WE pay the fee because WE are eBays customers. WE pay the paypal fees, NOT the buyer. WE pay the monthly fee for the eBay Store NOT the Buyer. So how is that eBay is protecting the BUYER and making it better for the BUYER and Not THIER Customer which is us SELLERS????
And answer me this if you will, How is that eBay THINKS they are saving us on Fees. Here is a quote from the article in "Dow Jones Newswires" ,"The greatest fee increase will come for goods selling for less than $25. EBay's fee for those transactions will rise 67%, to 8.75% of the final sale price". How are they saving us money when it will RISE 67% of the final sale price. I understand that they are taking the listing price and lowering it however, they are raising the final value price higher than what the listing price used to be. Therefore, wouldn't we be paying MORE??? How is it that people think we are going to be saving money?
Maybe people would come here more often and sell, or sign up to sell if eBay protected THIER customers a bit more and actually cared about what WE think. I am a buyer and Seller and I am absolutely Appalled by how they are treating THIER customers.
