The journey has begun to find just the right thing to make your memorable day even more special. Congratulations! Origami is a fabulous way to make the wedding day shine with tradition, and colorful personality. The possibilities are endless! Please read more to see a little photo gallery and get some great ideas for your Origami Wedding day.
Things you should know first:
1)You must provide enough time for the Origami to be made if you want a lot done!!
2)Your budget
3)Your colors (red, white, gold are traditional)
4)How many people are involved in the wedding
5)Specific theme
And… (it’s worth mentioning twice), give enough time to have it made!
These things will be helpful to start out the selection process.
Traditional weddings include Japanese cranes (for luck),
lots of flowers like orchids, lilies
or roses
Melding traditional Japanese weddings with modern times or “Western” ways is much more popular now than ever before. In fact, using Origami in a wedding doesn’t really have to be labeled as any ethnicity at all although it started in the "EDO" era in China and became more popular in Japan. It is available to anyone, anywhere, and at any time. There really is no limit to what can be done… especially when it comes to the beautiful and colorful, custom addition of Origami.
I strongly suggest talking to an Origami Specialist or Consultant right away to see what will work for you and what can be accomplished in your time line. You are welcome to choose whoever you find that is knowledgeable, and can listen to what you want and be able to help tailor the origami to your specific needs while giving you the best price possible.
I hope the following information will not only help you prepare for your special day, but be enlightened to this ancient art of paper folding that has been handed down from generation to generation. Keep in mind that Origami is available for almost any special event that you can think of and it makes wonderful and thoughtful gifts. The first year anniversary is known as the “Paper Anniversary” and Origami is a perfect gift for that day as well. Golden Anniversaries
There are many parts to bringing a wedding together. This guide will touch on a little of each of these functions and give some ideas as a foundation to build on.
1) A “meet the family” dinner. Some wedding couples like to have a time prior to the wedding to introduce the two families together and begin the joining of families prior to the wedding. This is a wonderful way to break the ice if the families have not had chance to get to know each other yet, and will help make the wedding day more comfortable for all involved. Origami that can be used: invitations, name place marks
2) The Wedding Rehearsal. Often times, with larger wedding parties or formal weddings, a rehearsal happens shortly before the special day to give a “run-down” of how to go about the process. It helps people remember to walk “slowly” down the isle instead of running with excitement (like I did when I was a bridesmaid)! Giving a gift to the Maid of honor and bridesmaids, Best man and groomsmen is a tradition and is simply something nice to do for their involvement. Origami that can be used: mock paper wedding rings, gift boxes with a token of gratitude, practice bouquet (then given to the Maid of honor), thank you cards for their participation, any trinkets you can think of as a keepsake of the experience.
3) The Rehearsal Dinner. By now, this should start to be pretty exiting. Hopefully people have gotten to know each other and have had the chance to warm up. The dinner can be a casual get together at a restaurant, a warm home cooked meal, or a formal dining experience. Origami that can be used: invitations, name cards, floral arrangements for centerpieces, other center piece ideas, gift boxes, small gifts such as cranes, animals , shells, scattering stars, thank you cards and any custom touch you can think of.
4) The Wedding Day! It has finally arrived! For your special day, here are some ideas for origami that can be used: Bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres, flowers for tuxedos, hair ornaments, cranes, swans, paper wedding rings, decorations for the isles, flowers, small origami to put on the top of cupcakes or the wedding cake, table decorations, and even stars to scatter on the cake table or throw after the wedding. A wonderful gift to receive (you can request one) is a
5) Here comes the reception. Time to party with your friends and family! Some receptions have a catered dinner setting, and some are geared towards having Karaoke, dancing, and drinking or a combination of all of these things. A tradition drink is sake but the possibilities are endless on this as well. Origami that can be used: reception dinner ideas are the same as the rehearsal dinner but may be in different or brighter colors like metallic or sparkle colors. Decorations that may be added into the reception are decorative stars, and shiny hanging ornaments to add some sparkle or pizzazz.
I certainly hope that you have enjoyed this guide and it will be a good start to get your wheels turning in the direction of customizing your wedding with the beautiful, ancient art of Origami paper folding.
