At California Car Cover we specialize in custom-fit car covers that are available in a variety of materials. Each fabric is tailored to different applications and needs and this guide will assist you in selecting the best material for your situation. The fabrics will be described below and organized according to use.

Basic Information

All custom-fit covers from California Car Cover include elastic at the front and rear bumpers to secure the cover to the automobile. They also include a pair of reinforced grommet holes in the middle of the cover which can be used to secure the cover with one of our optional cable and lock kits. Most newer automobiles (1980-newer) will include mirror pockets as well. If the cover does not include mirror pockets then it will be noted in the auction. All custom-fit car covers also include the California Car Cover logo on the front unless specified otherwise. Options such as antenna pockets or grommets can be included with the order at no addition charge. All covers are made without an opening for the antenna as many custom automobiles do not have an antenna or have an antenna that has be relocated. Each California Car Cover custom-fit cover carries a unique warranty that ensures each customer gets an excellent value from their purchase. The length of the warranty varies by material and covers basic issues such as construction, wear, etc.

Outdoor Materials

Stormweave

Our original outdoor material, Stormweave provides excellent protection from UV damage and light rain. It is a multi-layer material from Kimberly-Clark and is our thickest fabric, so it provides the best protection against accidently dings and scratches. Due to the thickness of the cover we usually do not recommended it for extra large vehicles (due to bulkiness) or to extra small vehicles (due to smaller trunk capacity). It filters 99% of the UV rays which will help keep your interior cooler and protect your paint finish from fading. Stormweave carries a standard moisture protection rating which means it will prevent morning dew and light rain for soaking through the cover surface, but harder rain will eventually soak through. Even if some moisture does go through, all covers from California Car Cover are breathable and do not trap moisture which can damge the paint surface. We highly recommend this material to car owners in sunny, dry or windy climates. It is available in gray, marine blue and tan. 4-year warranty.

NOAH

Another popular Kimberly-Clark material that we carry is the NOAH fabric. It too, is a multi-layer material and is highly dust and moisture resistant. This breathable fabric uses "breathable film" technology to prevent moisture from seeping through the cover, but allows air to flow through the material to evaporate moisture and condensation. It provides overall excellent protection in all weather conditions. We recommend this material to moist, wet or humid climates. Between the Stormweave and the NOAH, the Stormweave provides better UV protection, while NOAH provides better protection in wet conditions such as dew, rain, and snow. It is available in gray only. 4-year warranty.

Superweave

Our most versatile material is the Superweave. It is a lightweight material that provides unsurpassed moisture, UV and dust protection. It is virtually dustproof and highly water resistant. Similar in look and feel to umbrella material, the Superweave is our only material that is washer and dryer safe, and available in a multitude of colors. It can also be made into a two-tone cover for an addition fee using any combination of the colors we offer. We recommend this cover to customers with extra large and extra small vehicles because it is compact and folds down into 1/3 the size of our other outdoor materials. It is usually not recommended to customers in windy areas because it is lightweight. Superweave material can be ordered in: Gray, Tan, Black, Bright Blue, Sky Blue, Green, Red and Yellow. Please note that brighter colors are not recommended for extended use in direct sunlight due to fading. 4-year warranty.

Multiweave II

An economical option for outdoor storage is our Multiweave II. This multi-layer material provides good protection from dust and UV rays and fair moisture protection. It will most likely keep morning dew off your automobile, but more rain than that might soak through. It is recommended for customers who are more concerned with daily dust and UV protection than with moisture protection. 3-year warranty.

Indoor Materials

California Customweave

An indoor material with the superior fit is the California Customweave. It combines a polyester knit with Lycra/Spandex technology to truly fit like a glove. The cover contours over the automobile for a snug fit. The inside of the cover features a soft 100% cotton terry loop for a cushiony feel. The material is available for a limited amount of vehicles and a variety of colors. The Customweave comes in Black, Charcoal, Blue, Gray, Dark Green, and Red.We recommend this material for automobiles that are only covered indoors for dust protection. The fabric is only available for a limited number of European and Classic cars.

Plushweave

Our most popular indoor material is our Plushweave. It is a 100% cotton car cover with a very soft cotton flannel lining. The Plushweave material does a great job of protecting your vehicle from accidently dings and scratches, plus keeps the dust off your car. It is recommended for mostly indoor use, but can be used outdoors in fair weather conditions. It is very popular with classic cars owners that store their vehicles most of the time, but do want to keep dust off their automobile when at a car show for the weekend. The fabric is treated to prevent dew from soaking through the fabric. The soft flannel lining does not scratch and is perfect for protecting a beautiful paint job. It is available in gray, or in black for an additional fee.The cover is not recommended for extended use in direct sunlight. 2-year warranty.

Dustop

This soft fabric is a virtually dustproof material from Kimberly-Clark. It is a multi-layer material that is similar in construction to our Stormweave fabric. This fabric is actually as soft as a cotton cover, but provides 4X the dust protection of a basic woven cover. The fabric is bulky enough to provide some ding/scratch protection, but light enough to make it easy to handle. It is recommended for indoor use only. It is very popular with stored vehicles, display vehicles and collector cars. 2-year warranty.

Softweave

Though our flannel-lined Plushweave cover is a more popular choice, our Softweave cover is an option that we have available. The Softweave cover is simply a 100% cotton car cover. It is soft as a cotton t-shirt and features the same dew repellency as the Plushweave. We recommended the Softweave cover to owners of convertible automobiles mostly. Since it does not have a flannel lining the Softweave does not leave lint of a fabric convertible top like the flannel lining of the Plushweave can occassionally do. It is available in gray, or in red or black for an additional fee.2-year warranty.
