Here we are again with another guide to help you in building your custom guitar. I hope you have found all of the previous guides to be fun and helpful. Today we are going to talk about pickup selection.
Picking the right pickups for your DREAM GUITAR is the most critical element in developing your own sound. Along with the other variables involved in a custom guitar project, the right pickup can make all the difference.
Once again, you do not have to be an expert or know all of the ratings, ohms, henries, etc. to be a pro at selecting the right pickups. Trust yourself when going through this process. Select what sounds good to YOU not what sounds good to other people or what gets the best reviews. No one can tell YOU what sounds good to YOU. Try everything you can and get to know the different brands and styles. Look online for sound clips of certain pickups in certain guitars. If you see a live act with a smokin' guitar tone look at what pickups are installed or ask the guitarist what they are. Decide if you want humbuckers, singles or a combination of both. Lots of variables come into play but it is easy if you know what you are going for.
We sell the most Lace Sensor pickups. Through thier close working relationship, Lace and Fender have developed a wide variety of tones and configurations. The Holy Grail revisits the original 54 strat tone but offers it in a noiseless format so the tones are crystal clear. The Power Sensor is for the modern player who need high output all out gain, but in a traditional strat package. There are many stops in between and if you need advice we are glad to help. However, as I said before your own opinion is your most valuable tool.
You do not even need to worry about wiring them up because every possible setup is available in a prewired setup. It does not get any easier.
Let us know if you have any questions about pickups, we are glad to help!
Thanks,
MSM
