NFPA certification  Firefighter Personnal Protective Equipment (PPE) is certified by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). Many Fire Departments require their members use PPE that carries a current NFPA certification. Ensure that the PPE you buy meets the requirements of your Fire Department.
