Segway - The Infamous Segway - Own Yours!
By the end of the year 2001, there was a growing buzz regarding a new product that could change the way we view public transportation. Known at the time as "It" and "Ginger," the Segway human transporter was finally revealed in December 2001. Created by inventor Dean Kamen, the Segway promised motorized transportation that didn't require any energy source other than a rechargeable battery and a simple lean.
How does the Segway work? At its most basic, the Segway is a mechanized scooter that uses onboard computers, motors, and gyroscopes to keep it perfectly balanced. Motion on a Segway is controlled entirely by the rider's movement. If the rider stands straight, the vehicle remains immobile. If the rider leans forward, the Segway moves forward. Although the speed is limited by the motors, variations in speed are controlled by the rider's body inclination--the sharper the lean, the faster the speed.
The Segway comes in four different models. The most basic is the Segway HT--or Human Transporter. The other models include the Golf Transporter, the Cross Terrain Transporter, and the versatile Segway Hti180. Although each model is slightly different, the average top speed is approximately 13 miles per hour and the vehicle is estimated to be able of travelling up to 10 miles on a single charge.
eBay offers consumers an online location where they can find and purchase a wide range of Segways. From the vehicle to its accessories, eBay continually receives new additions, which is why it is often possible to find deals that are unavailable anywhere else. Some deals may include offers at prices far lower than any regular retail store or distributor.
