Ever wonder how to get your favorite players autograph without driving to a show or paying a fee? Here is everything you need to know about successfully receiving autographs through the mail.

1. Buy the address book. It has all the addresses of managers, umpires, Hall of Famers, active players, and retired players. I do own this book and I can assure you it is worth the money. Find it at www. baseballaddresses .com. (there are no spaces in this, I could not write it the right way because of the invalid HTML) Jack Smalling (author) is a great guy and he even signed the copy of the book he sent me.

2. Get some cards that you don't mind losing. ( Don't send rare rookie cards, jerseys, or parallels)
-make sure the cards of of good players but not great players. Many great players have so much mail, that yours will probally not be signed.

3.Make a SASE (self addressed stamped envelope). Basically get a small envelope, write your address on it, and put a stamp on it. Then stick that envelope into a larger envelope with the card and an autograph request. Put the players address on the front and put a stamp on it.
      - the reason a SASE is preferred, is so the athelete can easily read the note, signed the card, drop it in the SASE, and put it in the mail.
-if you plan to send many requests to different players, it may be helpful to type your autograph request, and then write the athelete's name in the letter
-make sure you personally sign the request.

4.Send out your cards. It is good to send the cards during the offseason when most of the atheletes are home. Also remember that many retired players are coaches, so sending requests to them should be done during the offseason as well.

Here are some more tips:
Don't send to atheletes who have been traded recently, as their home address may change
Don't send to people born before 1936 (70 years old), as they may no longer be able to keep up with autograph demands.
Check to make sure the athelete is still living!!!!

Here are the players autographs that I have recieved through the mail during the 2005/2006 offseason with little money and effort.
Vida Blue
Joe Rudi
Dale Mahoric
Tom Brokkens
Steve Balboni
Doc Medich
Luis Tiant
Jim Leyritz
Horace clarke

Good luck and contact me with any questions.
Please vote that this was helpful. If you do, I may be able to supply a free address from a player of your choice( it you would like a free address, please contact me). (Note that 90% of the addresses are correct. Because atheletes move alot, I cannot assure you that all addresses are correct, but what do you have to lose?)
