Attending a Seattle Mariners game at Safeco field is a fun event for family and business. Please vote YES for my guide at the bottom of this page !
This guide will cover: Buying, Searching, Delivery Options, Good Deal?, Best Value, Safeco Field, Game Schedule, Promotions.
Buying: Do you know who you are buying from? Make yourself familiar with a seller by looking at seller rating (# of sales and feedback %), detailed seller ratings (the stars) especially the description of the ticket, did the seller use Ebay Item Specifics and does it match the word description? Tickets are a time sensitive product and ticket sellers should never have delivery time complaints.
Searching: To get the best results use the home team name and the date of the game. example: Mariners 9/5/08 This search will get you all the Ebay and Ebay Stores items for the Mariners vs Yankees on September 5, of this year. The search can be expanded by dropping the year, this will also bring in other merchandise not related to the date. Searching Ebay Express will bring results which are available for immediate purchase from a seller with a known and approved track record. "Buy items instantly, no hassles. Buy brands you love - instantly - Buyer Protection with every purchase" - Ebay Express Page
Delivery Options: Mariners tickets can be delivered three different ways. Mail or courrier, local pick-up, and digital delivery. When using mail always ask for (and pay for) delivery confirmation. Most levels of service above first class include this automatically. Pick-Up if it suits you and your seller. This option is often the most costly in time and therefor money for the seller. Digital delivery is available from season ticket holders who may transfer their tickets to you or a professional ticket reseller as a pdf file. The Mariners use the TicketFast system operated by ticketmaster. It works like this: Online the season ticket holder pays a fee (currently $2/ticket) TicketFast cancels the barcode on the original paper ticket, creates a new barcode which is emailed to the buyer as a pdf file, which must be printed for entry to the game. In the near future you will be able to show the barcode image on your cell phone or pda !
Did I get a Good Deal? For any one seat the Mariners have four different prices. The lowest price paid for a seat is the Season Ticket Holders price as they pay in advance for a package. Prices increase to about 150% for day of game.
Here are some examples: Lower Box Prices: Season ticket - $40, Early Bird thru 3/28 - $58, Day before Game - $60, Game Day - $65, all for the same seat. So if you purchase these tickets on Ebay for anything less than $60, you did better than buying at the gate - and have much better seat location.
*Stadium Notes* Be sure to ask your seller about location specifics such as: asile seats?, in the sun?, deck overhead?, etc.
*BEST VALUE* My recommendation for best value tickets would be section 118 or 142, row 28 or lower (there are about 42 rows in the lower area). These are the first sections after box seats on the first base and third base sides. The original ticket price is about 25% less than lower box, and usually are not bid as high at auction, these may be better seats than higher row box seats because of the overhang and distance from the field. If you arrive early, access to the Mariners players dugout is quite easy. I like section 118 the best of these two as most action comes towards first base.
