Scotty Cameron Putters - A guide to Scotty Cameron
After working for the Ray Cook Golf Company, Maxfli, Cleveland Classics, Founder's Golf, and Mizuno, Scotty Cameron decided to go into business for himself in 1992. Alongside his wife, Cameron started Cameron Golf International. The very next year, one of their putters was used to win the Masters, and the rest, as they say, is history.
From there, Scotty Cameron's putters caught the attention of one of golf's largest product manufacturers, Titleist. The company approached him about designing putters for them and the two formed an alliance. This dynamic duo is now responsible for hundreds of putters, putter accessories, and putter services across the globe.
This success, along with industry-renowned craftsmanship, has served to make Scotty Cameron's putters some of the most sought-after in the golf world. His putters are favorites of many professional players on the circuit today. As a matter of fact, the Red X and Red X2 models are currently in regular use in many a pro bag.
The Red X was introduced on the PGA Tour in 2004 and is now being used by six to nine players per tournament. It features a simple, clean design and true sweet spot designed for accurate alignment. The Red X2 incorporates a three-dot design for head and shaft placement. It features the original model's German Stainless Steel (GSS) insert with elastomer backing, body made of stainless steel, and aluminum sole plate. New additions include the straight shaft, altered shaft position, and the three-dot system.
