After looking around I found a good price ($130) on a sciphone i68 and ordered it. The phone came from China and arrived within a week by priority mail. Unfortunately the phone wasn't quite what I was hoping for.
Unlike the P168i you cannot change the start up or shutdown screens. There is no way to change or add moving gif. images. Also you cannot change, add or delete wallpaper. I also didn't see where I could change the backgrounds on menus. According to the start up guide, this is supposed to be possible, but there are no instructions and plugging the phone into my computer's USB didn't allow me to do anything either. U can add about 5 ringtones, the other 25 that come with the phone cannot be deleted and aren't that good.
The biggest problem I had was that there are no forum boards (that I know of or could find) that have the detailed instructions that the P168 boards do. So there really isn't a lot of instruction out there on how to customized or set up this phone. I tried repeatedly to set up MMS with T-Mobile and never could get it to work quite right. At one point I could receive pictures but I could never get it to send them. I would either get an error message or a GPRS not supported message.
The phone also has handwriting recognition, but despite my best efforts to get it working, the phone refused to recognize the letters "t" and "g". While I may not have used this feature too much, it really should work. And it simply wouldn't. Before I calibrated the touch screen, it was almost impossible to use the phone, so doing that should be a first step.
Also, the plug in for the power, usb and headphones is proprietary, so you cannot use your own head phones and there is currently no adapter available. The included extra battery is handy, however, my second battery arrived defective and would not power up the phone no matter what I tried.
The phone is very close to a copy of the iphone. Many of the screens and menus are very similar. However, after seeing and playing with the iphone, that is where the similarity ends. The Sciphone in my opinion is just not comparable to the iphone.
I returned my Sciphone, and bought an LG Vu instead.
