Schwinn bicycles were and are still one of Americas best selling bicycles, many people can still remember there first bike as a " Schwinn", I can recall my mother saying how she had a violet colored Schwinn bike when she was growing up, In the 1950's and the 1960's when Schwinn hit it big with Americas youth, with the ever so famous Schwinn Black Phantom, and later in the 60's with the stingray and the orange and apple krates, that the biggest time period that everyone remembers most of all, hopping curbs with ther phantoms and corvettes, and later wanting to be like there big brother with the stingrays, lining there bikes up on the street corner at a local ice cream stand or in the school playground, later in the 1970's when the Schwinn Krate series came out, and the youth had to have one to ressemble the motorcycle, putting ball cards in there spokes to make the noise of a motor bike, popping wheelies, and racing around, later in the 1980's the BMX style came out for riding tricks and jumping hills, this is when moto sports really started up, tours on bikes, sponsors and prizes, big names, names that you recognize to this day. the 1990's came and went with the mountain bike and the touring 10 and 21 speeds, road racing at excessive speeds, people like Lance Armstrong, winning millions of dollars, turning it from a bike to a sport. this is what i thrive on and what i like to remember, how schwinn was and still is "Americas" bike.
