A lot of living people will say where they would like their cremated remains dispersed; at sea, on a mountain top, etc.. to release their soul. Many even think of the environment and all the wasted earth with coffins and cemeteries.
When releasing your loved one's cremated remains, which basically looks like assorted sizes of cat liter, make sure that you are standing upwind of the direction in which you intend to scatter the "ashes". I was forewarned by a relative whom had a very negative experience when the wind blew the wrong way on a mountain top.
It is amazing to see how small we really are after cremation. We fit into a little 8" X 8" X 8" box. It doesn't take long to disperse...just watch out for the wind!!!
