I just wanted to let everyone know-the retail price of the Samsung Instinct is $449.99 from Sprint's website, Sprint Stores, and Best Buy-meaning, that it costs $449.99 WITHOUT A CONTRACT. Best Buy in my area told me that the phone is listed at $600, but if you go onto Sprint's website and just print out the page showing the price of the phone($449.99), they will honor that price because it's from Sprint's website. In order to buy it from a Sprint store, they tell you that you must upgrade to a Simply Everything Plan and sign up for at least another year, preferably 2 more years. They're saying that in order to be fully able to use the device to it's full capabilities, you need to have the Simply Everything Plan. That's not entirely true though. If you call Sprint and speak to them about their plans in conjunction with the Instinct, they'll tell you that for an individual customer/plan, need to have the Simply Everything Plan, which comes in 3 formats: 450min, 900min, or unlimited minutes, which costs $69.99, $89.99, and $99.99 respectively, or one the Talk/Message/Data shared minuted plans(I guess this they're no longer calling them Family Plans) which comes in 2 formats: either $129.99 for 1500 shared minutes, or $169.99 for 3000 shared minutes. On the Talk/Message/Data Share plan, Sprint includes the first 2 lines at no charge, but the third, fourth, or fifth lines will be an additional $19.99 each. All of the pricing information is also available from the Sprint website, so take a look at it if you'd like to confirm what I've written. Also, be careful when purchasing the Instinct from a seller and paying extra because they say that they're including certain "extras". The package from Samsung contains all the standard cell phone accessories that you get with basically any phone you buy these days-a standard wall charger, usb cord, battery, headset, user guides, CD for computer synching, and a stylus. On top of those standard items, Samsung is also including in the package an extra battery, an extra battery charging cradle, a carrying case which can also hold the stylus because the stylus doesn't go into the actual phone, a 2gig micro sd card, and a micro sd card adapter-THESE "EXTRA" ITEMS ARE INCLUDED WITH EVERY SINGLE INSTINCT BEING SOLD. They are "extras" directly from Samsung, NOT from the person selling the phone, so please don't let a seller fool you into thinking they themselves are giving you these items, or charging you more because they've included those items. Basically, the only thing that you'd really need which Samsung doesn't give you is a car charger, which if a seller includes in their auction, then it can be called an "extra". Just please don't be suckered into paying more for an item when there's no reason to do so. This phone is abundantly available, it's not a limited edition, and it's not a special release. It's just a very nice phone, which happened to just come out, so people will try their hardest to charge the most amount of money for the phone hoping that the average consumer won't realize any of these things. It's a little ridiculous, but that's just how it is. Take a look online, read about it, check out some reviews, or call Sprint and ask them about the plans/pricing and so on. I'm picking up an Instinct at some point this coming week, so I'll update this review after I've had a chance to really use/play with the phone for a few days. Happy hunting.
