1. Know what product you want to sell?

    Research that item on ebay. See what it is selling for. Also, research outside of ebay to see what other sites have for purchase prices. All of this legwork is FREE if you do it! Do not pay someone to do it for you! Do not get fraustrated when it does not sell right away. Remember when you had a yard sale, sometimes things do not sell right-a-way!

2. Item descriptions.

    Some use misspelled words, others use the correct spelling, some use brand names, size, color, shape, type of product, or even something off the wall. Ask yourself, HOW CAN I FIND MY ITEM? Write down those answers and that is how you should be placing your item to sell on ebay! Write down your description to see what it looks like and try to find one on ebay. If you got a hit, then it is being used. Remember if you did not get a hit sometimes its a great idea to use what you got, but using the right catagory of what that item is also helps others in finding your item.

3. Shipping.

    Look at the items that you searched for to see what it is going for. REMEMBER TO LOOK AT THE SHIPPING COST! You decide what shipping method you want to use and what cost. You can not over charge a customer but it should be reasonable to how you ship the item. I dont use paypal shipping due to the fact that they automatically charge a fee. I use that fee as my gas money and go to USPS to ship my items. I add in my postage with the envelopes, boxes, or packing I might use. Yes, Pack Mail charges for that too! I have added deliverly confirmation due to customers stating that they never received the item. I also tape my envelopes! Yes, there has been times where I undercharged shipping, but this is the hardest part of ebay for me. I do not have a shipping scale but when you put in the measurements on paypal they seem to be charging more then what I can offer my customers. I email my customers when I sell them item and it has been shipped for them to look for it. I then track that item with the delivery confirmation that I put on each item I sell! Once I know that it has been delivered I email them to see if they received it. Yes, they leave feedback once I email them! Sometimes they do not.

4. Setting up your selling account.

    Its easy just set it up! You need a checking account and credit card. REMEMBER TO ASLO SET UP YOUR PAYPAL ACCOUNT AT THE SAME TIME! Use an email address other then your account email address. This to me stops fraud! Do not give any body your passwords! I print my fees each page so I know what fees I can use each year of items I sold for tax purposes. I also print what items I have sold and not sold for inventory purposes. You can pay your fees before the due date. Also, you need to know if this is a business or personal account you want to set up!

5. FEEDBACK.

    I believe as a SELLER that the Buyers should be leaving feedback! They bought an item from me and I want to know how I did. This helps me in improving my selling skills and trying to get more customers. I have noticed when I leave feedback they do not do their part and leave theirs! I really think the system is still unfair and that the buyers should leave their feedback once they receive the item. Every time I buy an item I leave it before they do! I also contact them to let them know. Some sellers are power sellers and I just do not think they have the time to look at everything they sold to leave feedback! So I try to help them when I buy from them. I still think that ebay should have a system that if a seller leaves feedback so to should the buyer and if the buyer leaves feedback so to should the seller! Sending each party an automated email to the fact!
