This is a list of all the titles of the Sailor Moon bootleg DVDs being sold on eBay. •     The English seasons 1 and 2 of Sailor Moon, unfortunately, were never released in complete boxsets. ADV Films did, however, put together original uncut Japanese language, English subtitled boxsets of season 1 and season 2 (Sailor Moon R) which both have 8 DVDs each. ADV Films released seasons 1 and 2 as single volume DVDs containing 6 episodes each (volume 13 and 14 both have 5 episodes). There are 14 volumes all together. If ADV Films had released English seasons 1 and 2 boxsets, I'm sure season 1 would have 7 discs each and so would season 2.
•     ADV Films lost their production rights of the first 2 seasons on March 31st, 2004 resulting in all their VHS and DVD releases moving to out of print status.
•     So, having this now know,  it's clear that all season 1 and 2 boxsets are bootlegs since they were never created.

•     Sailor Moon's third season Sailor Moon S and fourth season Sailor Moon SuperS were made into single volume DVDs as well as full boxsets. Sailor Moon S' DVD volumes are available from Pioneer (Heart Collection) and Geneon (the new Pioneer) as the Signature Series. Sailor Moon SuperS' volumes are by Geneon as the Pegasus Collection and Signature Series.
•     Sailor Moon S has a total of 6 DVDs, with 6 episodes each (except volume 6 which has 7 episodes).
•     The Sailor Moon S boxset is called "Sailor Moon S TV Series Complete Collection Thinpak" by Geneon Pioneer and has the 6 DVD volumes that are available individually.
•     The SuperS boxset has the same title (with SuperS as the exception) and has the 7 DVD volumes that are available individually. Both boxsets (and the volumes) are original uncut versions with English audio and Japanese audio with English subtitles.
•     The last disc of the re-release of Sailor Moon SuperS as the Signature Series (also the last ever release of any Sailor Moon DVDs from Geneon) was released on February 1st, 2005 ending the English production of Sailor Moon forever. :-(

 

•     The three Sailor Moon movies are also available individually from Pioneer and Geneon (as the Signature Series) and available in their boxset known as The Dream Set Uncut Trilogy (also available as the Signature Series, difference is just there is a big red bar across the top of the box). These, too, have English and Japanese audio (with English subtitles).
•     Geneon's contract to these three movies was canceled on December 31st, 2004 meaning (like all the contracts that have ended) no more Sailor Moon VHS or DVDs will be made and once they're gone from stores - they are gone for good.

    ...With the exception of eBay!

    So, after all that bad news, here comes the list of the Sailor Moon bootlegs.

15.     Sailor Moon Season S Perfect Box 12 DVD Set Sailormoon - This one is a region free home-made set. I have no idea why there are 12 DVDs when the real Sailor Moon S boxset from Pioneer/Geneon has 6 DVDs. It's box, volumes', and disc art all were made with manga images of Sailor Moon!..Manga are the comics not the cartoons!
16.     Sailor Moon S - Box Set (2004, DVD) - This one is a 4 disc fold out set with a white cover with Sailor Moon, the inner Soldiers and Sailor Neptune and Uranus. It has the Japanese logo of Sailor Moon S in the bottom right corner and a pink DVD logo in the top left. The back has the same logos on the top and it states that it is both in Japanese and English languages.
17. RARE! Sailor Moon S TV 4 DVD Boxset UNCUT Season 3 ADV - Wow, what a liar! This is the above bootleg blue S boxset, this is not from ADV Films!!

    IMPORTANT

    Sailor Moon season 5 known as Sailor Moon Sailor Stars was never made for English audiences nor was it put out as a subtitled set. Same goes for the live-action series of Sailor Moon called Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon. I have seen some individual DVDs for Sailor Stars, for sale here, that are legit, non-subtitled, region 2 discs, which will not work in North American (region 1) DVD players and even if you had a region 2 DVD player, you would have to know Japanese.
    Thus being said, all subtitled (that are anywhere!) Sailor Moon Sailor Stars and Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon individual volumes and boxsets are bootlegs! So, there will not be a title list or example pictures since they're all pirated copies. But the Sailor Moon Sailor Stars art was taken from the Japanese region 2 Sailor Stars volumes.  

    Also, an eBayer that contacted brought up something that should've been in here. All sellers selling complete sets of Sailor Moon DVDs, either English seasons 1-4 or English/Japanese seasons 1-5, are all bootlegs as well. I didn't have enough room to put pictures of the Japanese language season 1 and 2 boxsets, so I'm going to have to make a part 2 to this guide in a while. But keep in mind, these complete sets are using the above bootleg boxsets to make up these $120 bargains, so if you purchase one thinking you're getting the legitimate Pioneer and ADV Films boxsets - you're wrong!
