Cosmetics, wonderful stuff. Can make a person feel like a million dollars.
Before purchasing any cosmetics, make sure that they are unused. ASK the seller if items are still sealed. If you can tell from the picture that some of the product is used (ie toner bottle not full), skip on to another product.
Using old or used product can cause problems for you. We're talking allergic reactions, infections, etc.
When buying certain cosmetics over eBay or even at garage sales, the guarantee is VOIDED. Take for example Mary Kay cosmetics. If Mary Kay is bought over eBay, the guarantee is voided. In fact, the consultant is in direct violation of her consultant agreement. If the products are non-cosmetic, for instance bags and mirrors, as long as they are in good shape, go for it. EXCEPT brushes-they should be unused unless antique and not to be used on anyone, only collected.
Want to know how old that product is? For Mary Kay the bottom numbers tell it all. If it starts with a number, throw it away! That product is from the 1990s or earlier. Starting in 2000, Mary Kay began to use letters (ie "a" is 2000). Mary Kay's shelf life is no more than 3 years.
If the product has an "off" odor, don't use it. Usually it is old. It could have bacteria as well.
Illinois does not allow cosmetics, skincare and vitamins to be sold at flea markets. Many states have laws against selling used cosmetics and skincare.
Besides, do you really want to share that lipstick with someone? She might be sharing a cold sore too!
