Before you place a bid or attempt to buy something online (not just eBay):
1. Read and ensure that you understand the description of the item.
2. Check seller feedback. (check recent comments, rating points, negatives AND positives)
3. Research and understand what you are bidding on. (find out more in Google)
4. Agree to the terms that the seller has set for the auction. (respect the seller - only buy if you agree with the seller's terms - else it's a free world so look for another auction that will satisfy your needs)
5. Ask questions about the item, payment and delivery (or read thoroughly in item description).
6. If you live near the seller ask if you can arrange to view the item, even if you don’t then you may gain a genuine address or contact number.
Be cautious when:
* An item is an unbelievable deal. (price super low or high valued item yet free shipping?)
* A trader appears to be away or is having difficulty communicating with you. (give leeway, perhaps there was an accident - or email was stuck?)
* A trader has difficulty or cannot answer questions about an item. (recheck description)
* Will only accept cash or payment via Western Union. (ask why only these options - could be some valid reasons)
Always:
READ - everything on the item description fully
ASK - questions
USE - common sense
PUT - yourself as the seller or buyer
