SaferSeller has been selling on eBay since January of 2000. They are certified eBay education specialist that offer training, and Trading Assistance to help others sell their items.

In the world of online ecommerce, safety has become of paramount concern!
  • Will my credit card number be safe?
  • Will my identity be stolen?
  • Can I trust the seller?
  • What will happen IF I never get my item?
  • How do I protect myself?
These are all valid concerns, I hear these daily and in our class "The Basics of Selling on eBay" we teach sellers how they can trade in such a way to protect their buyers as well as themselves.

In short as a buyer you should certainly be aware of a few key facts that are very easy to find and will in 99% of the time keep you safe!
  1. Check and see how long the seller has been registered on eBay
  2. Look at the feedback score and be sure there have been several positive transactions in the past 30 days of similar priced items
  3. See if they always sell this value of items. If they sold 50 rubber bands for $1 and now you are looking at a $500 purchase, be wary!
  4. Spend a few minutes and actually read a few of the recent feedback comments - from DIFFERENT buyers.
  5. Look at what the payment terms are, if it's PayPal you may be eligible for up to $1000 in buyer protection!
  6. Never send cash or a bank wire for payment unless you know and trust the seller first hand.
  7. Look out for offers sent by email - these may appear to have come from eBay but could be Phishing scams. Always start a transaction from ebay directly - never from an email.
Reading this you are bound to feel some danger, however, I have personally found that the vast majority of transactions on eBay are safe! In fact eBay stated 99.9% of all the transactions go without a hitch! Most people are honest, most offers are real - my final advice is "if it sounds too good to be true - it probably is". Use common sense and feel free to call us for help or advice! Or better yet, read all our guides every month - SaferSeller Reviews and Guides.
