In the world of online ecommerce, safety has become of paramount concern!
- Will my credit card number be safe?
- Will my identity be stolen?
- Can I trust the seller?
- What will happen IF I never get my item?
- How do I protect myself?
In short as a buyer you should certainly be aware of a few key facts that are very easy to find and will in 99% of the time keep you safe!
- Check and see how long the seller has been registered on eBay
- Look at the feedback score and be sure there have been several positive transactions in the past 30 days of similar priced items
- See if they always sell this value of items. If they sold 50 rubber bands for $1 and now you are looking at a $500 purchase, be wary!
- Spend a few minutes and actually read a few of the recent feedback comments - from DIFFERENT buyers.
- Look at what the payment terms are, if it's PayPal you may be eligible for up to $1000 in buyer protection!
- Never send cash or a bank wire for payment unless you know and trust the seller first hand.
- Look out for offers sent by email - these may appear to have come from eBay but could be Phishing scams. Always start a transaction from ebay directly - never from an email.
