My plan is to write a series of guides about product photography and selling.
Number One, the background.
There is one thing we start practicing very early almost at birth. Before we can talk, before we produce cognitive thought, before we eat, we see. The human animal makes many judgements at the speed of light and we do it with our eyes.
Images are very important and always have been. Items must look good to be accepted, to be chosen. You will eat a medium tasting meal and think it great if it is presented properly.
Having simply a point and shoot camera, with no flash, and no knowledge of photography you can make effective photos. Start by creating a place dedicated to your products and make a seamless single color background.
High key or white may be the most useful but there are times when a black background is also effective. A bit of contrast or a difference in the colors is important.
It does not have to cost much, you can use a sheet, or a piece of kraft paper, just make this one choice and start there.
Your on your way. Stay tuned for more tips!
