With the new Star Trek movie getting lots of great reviews, I felt it was time to reflect on my memories of the Star Trek I used to know.
Like many of us, I grew up watching the brilliant and gorgeous colors of the Star Trek TV show in the '60s, and once the show went into syndication, I watched the programs again & again.
Mr. Spock was my hero. I even bought a pair of Mr. Spock rubber ears and wore them around the house and to my garage band's rehearsals. For me, Mr. Spock was somewhat of a comical figure, and I always sensed that his seriousness was a bit tongue-in-cheek (Leonard Nimoy's acting didn't seem to hide that fact). I wish I still had those ears, but they crumbled into pieces after awhile as the rubber became increasingly brittle.
This cup has rather romantically styled illustrations of my hero Mr Spock as well as Dr. McCoy, Captain Kirk, and the Starship Enterprise, all floating in a smattering of blue star-like specks with one yellowish heavenly body--a moon? a planet?
There are no chips or cracks on this cup just as there are no chips or cracks in the whole Star Trek franchise. It just keeps on going--like the pop culture pipeline at PopKrazy .
